Issues

Public Safety- The Mayor of Indianapolis has not utilized tools provided to him by the City-County Council to make our streets safer. In District 22, crime has become an unwelcome reality. I will work with the Mayor's Office to make cleaning up our streets a priority not only in District 22 but across Indianapolis.
Taxes- District 22 has major issues with land off the tax rolls. This places the burden on the property owners in the township. I will work to make sure that the tax base is expanded in Decatur Township and the burden doesn't fall so heavily upon property owners.
Economic Development- While there is much land to develop in District 22, much of it has been for residential or industrial usage. District 22 needs more commercial land use. I will work to make sure that residents in District 22 do not have to leave the area to be entertained or to buy new clothing or household items.
Infrastructure- Areas of District 22 have infrastructure pieces such as roads and buildings that are falling down and falling apart. District 22 families deserve sidewalks and smooth streets to drive on. District 22 families deserve nice neighborhoods with buildings that are up to code and not deteriorating. I will work to provide a District 22 in which we can all be proud to live and work.
Parks- District 22 has little parkland. The parks that are available for use are often cramped or are for private or specific use. I will work to make sure residents of District 22 have parks they can enjoy with their families.
Energy- Wherever possible, I will work to make sure new development in District 22 is utilizing clean, green, and efficient sources of energy.
Leadership- The City of Indianapolis has been rudderless since 2008 when the current administration took office. The Republican-led Council and the Mayor's Office have failed to lead on many key issues from crime to the Capital Improvements Board to snow removal. I will work to bring better leadership to this city.
